Traditional Antique & Modern Upholstery & Re-covering

Prayer Chair
The photos show an antique prayer chair at various stages during the re-upholstery process.

The chair is first stripped back before beginning to build the upholstery back up using webbing, hessian and curled hair. The upholstery is stitched to form the shape and definition of the chair seat and back, followed by a second stuffing of hair, a layer of cotton felt and calico. Finally the chair is covered with the top fabric and piping.
